Secondly, it would have been great to have an idea of the amount of violence (read: bricks to the head) there would be in the show, as my boyfriend is a military veteran medic with combat experience and PTSD. I can't see 3 feet in front of my face in the dark, so I had to cling to my boyfriend's arm most of the time - which I know is discouraged and results in no cast interaction. I have terrible night vision and would have loved the disclaimer so I could have directed my money elsewhere. My main qualms: First off, nowhere were we told we'd essentially be walking around in the dark for 3 hours. Disappointing because I've been waiting to throw hundreds of dollars at this show for 3 years. I like to go into shows surprised and in this case it ended up being a letdown. Maybe I should have read the Reddit spoilers. I also didn't realize it was a modern adaptation with naked rave scenes and animal heads. I knew Sleep No More was loosely based around Macbeth, but I missed the memo on Hitchcock. I got tickets and brought my boyfriend along. But I clung to the idea, and this month 2 years later, I found myself back in New York for a work trip. I tried to go a couple years back but the timing didn't work out. I'm a huge theatre and literary fan, and I've thoroughly enjoyed immersive performances put on in San Francisco, so when I heard about this show I was super stoked.
